North Myrtle Beach might annex cross-waterway site
The city could expand more across the Intracoastal Waterway if city officials agree to annex about 73 acres of land for development.
Currently, Barefoot Resort is the only property west of the waterway annexed into the city.
Planning commissioners are discussing the possible annexation and zoning of the 72.91-acre property located between Old Crane Road, C Versie Road and the waterway.
As the city continues to see rapid growth, city officials are looking to expand across the waterway. They say that they know the growth is coming and that they want the city to plan and be prepared for it.
Plans for the proposed Bahama Island Resort call for 1,592 single-family and multifamily homes, an existing dry dock storage facility, office space, and 55,579 square feet of space for shops.
